Lighten Your Load

Have you noticed the large bags we choose to carry these days? They have individual pockets for a water bottle, mobile phone, mp3 player, laptop computer and umbrella. There is even a convenient space to put our reusable grocery bag so it will be available when we stop to get groceries on the way home.

The bag is perfect, except for one thing. It is very heavy by the time we fill it with our daily necessities. As a result, many of us have developed shoulder and back pain from carrying such a large load.

I admit it. I am one of these people. Luckily, I gave in and I decided to get rid of the large bag. My shoulder thanks me for this decision every day! I also admit that I do not miss the things that I used to pack in the bag. I travel lighter now and it is very liberating.

What are you carrying around everyday that could be causing unnecessary physical pain? Maybe you are carrying things that are not as easy to identify as a large bag full of stuff, but the potential for physical injury is just as great.

How long do you hold anger inside when you are delayed in traffic, stuck in the rain or you reach the subway doors just as the train is starting to pull out of the station?

How often do you get upset with other drivers on the road? Do you take revenge when a car cuts in front of you?

How long do you hold grudges against coworkers or family members? How easy is it for you to forgive and forget?

Do you often worry about your weight, your health, working too much or not working enough? Do you feel guilty about not spending enough time with your friends and family?

At work, do you take your frustrations out on others when you are passed over for a promotion? Do you feel like you have to prove to the world your worth?

When we carry all of these things around with us on a daily basis, it causes a great deal of pain and suffering. We develop headaches, ulcers, high blood pressure and heart attacks.

It is time to throw away this excess baggage. It is time to forgive others and move forward in life. We don’t deserve to be weighed down with this type of stress. We can’t let other people dictate the way that we feel.

Feel the joy of traveling lighter without having to carry the weight of anger, resentment and pride.

Lighten your load. Throw out the big bags full of this worthless stuff.

You will be glad you did. You will have more time to enjoy life. You will be able to make time for chocolate.
