The Chocolate Bar List

Alison Nelson grew up in Queens, New York. She worked in coffee shops and dot.coms in the late 1990’s, but she soon realized that she needed to be her own boss. In May 2002, along with a partner, she opened a fun shop in the West Village serving coffee and chocolate. She claims she didn’t have any experience in chocolate except for reading eighteen books on the subject. Through hard work, the Chocolate Bar quickly gained a loyal following.

The store features Graffiti Bars with wrappers designed by ten of New York City’s graffiti artists. The Retro Bars are also popular with flavors including key lime pie, caramel apple, peanut butter caramel, salty pretzel, raspberry jam and coconut cream pie. The bars are packaged in a dark brown box with an orange ribbon and they average about $3.75 each. Alison has recently expanded with two new locations and new items on the menu.

Following is a list of a few interesting chocolate companies that are currently selling chocolate bars on the web as well as in local specialty stores. Whole Foods carries quite a few of these bars. Average prices are listed. Follow the link to the web site and then search for bars.

Enjoy and remember to always make time for chocolate.
